THIRD SUNDAY OF EASTER B

FIND THE ANSWER IN HIS WORD

LK 24; 35-48

MESSAGE

As I listened to a young woman recount her tale of struggles and woes, she paused to hear some words of wisdom from me. I began to share my thoughts on her situation, offering solutions and reflections based on my own experiences. However, I sensed that my words were not resonating with her. Then, I recalled a valuable lesson I learned from the Bible—a lesson on hope—and began to share it with her. As I did so, the woman exclaimed that it was precisely what she needed to hear. She was moved to realize the truth of the biblical words and lessons as they applied to her life, and she promised to cherish those words.

In today’s gospel, the Lord Jesus patiently seeks to prove that He is indeed risen from the dead. He shows His disciples the marks of the crucifixion on His hands and feet, eats food in front of them to dispel rumors of being a ghost, and finally, opens their minds to understand what was written about Him in the Word of God. These promises and prophecies ultimately transform the disciples into witnesses of the power, mercy, and love of God.

REFLECT

The Bible is a powerful testament to the Risen Christ. From beginning to end, it speaks of Jesus, testifies to Him, and introduces Him to us. When we read and internalize the words of Scripture, we establish a connection between the Lord and our present situation, whether pleasant or bleak. This Easter season, rekindle your love for the Bible. Encounter Jesus as you read and pray. Remember, ignorance of Scripture is ignorance of Christ! Do you have a favorite Bible verse?
