SIXTH SUNDAY OF EASTER C
HOLY SPIRIT, BANISH ALL FEAR!
JN 14: 23-29
MESSAGE
The Risen Christ brings a powerful message to His disciples—and to us today:
“Do not be afraid! Do not let your hearts be troubled.” The Lord knows that fear is one of the greatest enemies of the spiritual life. Yet, so often, we still hold on to our fears. Deep within our hearts, there may be…
- Fear of the future: What will happen to me or my family tomorrow? Will I be able to handle the challenges ahead?
- Fear of the past: What if people discover the real me? Will they judge me for my mistakes and failures?
- Fear for security: Will I survive? Will my family and I have enough to reach our goals and fulfill our dreams?
- Fear of abandonment: Will I be alone in my old age? Will there be friends or family to love and support me?
- Fear of insufficiency: Am I doing enough? Is my performance enough? What’s still missing in my life?
To all these fears, the Lord offers a promise and a solution: the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, who will teach us and remind us of everything Jesus has said. The Spirit, who comes from the heart of the Father and the Son, whispers to us today…
- Look to the future with hope, for God’s providence goes before you.
- Cling to God’s mercy, which wipes away the sins of the past from a repentant heart.
- Trust in the promise that God will never leave you alone.
- Surrender everything into God’s loving hands.
- Love yourself because God loved you first—and then go and love others with patience and commitment.
REFLECT
What fears do you carry with you into the night, and which ones greet you when you rise in the morning? Ask the Lord to send His Holy Spirit into your heart—to replace worry with hope, fear with trust, and turmoil with peace.
Come, Holy Spirit, come.
