FIRST SUNDAY OF LENT C

LEARN TO LIVE LENT

LK 4: 1-13

MESSAGE

Each year, we journey through Lent with the hope of making it our most meaningful one yet. And yet, we discover that each Lent is unique, calling us to experience it anew. This year, let us embrace the Lenten spirit with these reflections:

L for LISTEN
Lent is a time of spiritual solitude, a call to walk with Jesus through forty days of prayer and sacrifice. What better way to do this than by truly listening—just as the Lord listened to the Holy Spirit. He was filled with the Spirit and led into the desert, as the Gospel tells us. Let us train ourselves to listen again—not to scroll, not to browse, not to chat, not to watch—but to be still and attune our hearts to God’s voice.

E for ENTRUST
In the desert, Jesus relied on nothing but the Father and the power of prayer. If the Son of God surrendered everything to Him, how much more should we? This Lent, let us entrust our weaknesses, failures, and wounds to the Father. Too often, we rely on material comforts and superficial distractions. Now is the time to lift our burdens to God and trust in His loving care.

N for NOTICE
While we acknowledge our faults and struggles, Lent is not just about penance and sacrifice—it is, above all, about God’s boundless love and mercy. Before anything else, let us notice His presence in our lives, in the people around us, and in the countless blessings we often overlook. Be the first to recognize His grace at work in your journey.

T for TRIUMPH
Lent is not an endless desert; it is a passage leading to victory. The Cross is not the final destination—the Resurrection is. As we reflect on the sacrifice of Christ, let us already set our sights on the joy of Easter, where Jesus invites us to share in His triumph.

REFLECT

We have forty days to listen, entrust, notice, and triumph. Lord, send us Your Spirit to lead us into the desert with You, so that we may emerge renewed in faith, hope, and love.
